Rules of SJOELBAK

(DUTCH SHUFFLEBOARD)

1. We use 30 discs and a wooden table to play.

2. There are two rounds of each game.

3. We slide the pucks on the table towards the four goals - from behind the wooden limit at the end of the table.

4. Each goal is scored - from 1 to 4.

5. When our puck slips into the goal - we score a point.

6. Points are scored if more than half of the puck is behind the goal.

7. A player or group of players slides all 30 pucks into the goals.

8. We start the second round.

9. We take the pucks from the non-scored part of the table, and leave those in the goals.

10. We slide the remaining discs.

11. We count up the points. Note: if there is a situation where there is a puck in each scoring goal - the sum is multiplied by two, hence it is worth not sliding the pucks only to the four-point goal, but play to score as many pucks as possible in all goals.

Points counting scheme:

Gate with 1 dot: number of pucks in the gate x 1 point

Gate with 2 dots: number of pucks in the gate x 2 points

Goal with 3 dots: number of pucks in the goal x 3 points

Gate with 4 dots: number of pucks in the gate x 4 points

If we have at least 1 puck in each goal, then the sum of the points from all goals is multiplied by 2. This way we get the result of the round.

12. After summing up the points - the opposing team starts the game.

13. After two rounds of the opposing team, we summarize who won the game.

14. The number of games in a match depends on the arrangements of the players - willingness and available time.
